Stafford Borough Council has launched a major consultation asking residents and businesses to shape the borough's future. The new Local Plan will run until July 28th and will guide development decisions for the next 20 years, from 2025 to 2045.
The Local Plan controls where homes, shops and offices can be built across Stafford. It also prevents unsuitable development and protects green spaces and the countryside. Residents can flag up issues that matter to them, including flooding, traffic congestion and wildlife loss. Councillor Ant Reid said the work "could shape our borough for the next 20 years and beyond" and that he wants "people to love where they live."
The government has allocated £110,000 to Stafford Borough Council to complete this work properly and quickly. The entire process must be finished within 30 months, making this a time-sensitive opportunity for local input.
Stafford residents can share their views online at www.staffordbc.gov.uk/new-local-plan-2025-to-2045. Documents are also available to view in person at local libraries and the Civic Centre. Anyone with questions can email [email protected].
This consultation represents a rare chance for Stafford residents to influence major planning decisions that will affect their community for decades. The deadline of July 28th means local people should act soon if they want their views considered in the Local Plan.
