Staffordshire County Council is calling for nominations in the twelfth year of the Dignity in Care Awards. The scheme celebrates carers across Stafford and the wider county who demonstrate exceptional dedication to their work. Nominations close on 1 July 2026, giving residents time to put forward their candidates.
The awards recognise all types of carers, from professional care workers and care home staff to family members providing unpaid care. Nine categories are available this year, with separate awards designed for newcomers to the profession, long-term professionals, unpaid carers, and care home employees. This ensures that carers at different stages of their journey can be celebrated.
Martin Rogerson, Cabinet Member for Health and Care, highlighted the importance of the awards in shining a light on compassion and dedication. "These are carers who often don't expect anything in return," he said. The Stafford-based scheme recognises the daily efforts of those working in care across the county.
Nominating a carer is straightforward. Residents can submit their nominations through the Dignity in Care Awards webpage. Whether highlighting a care home worker in Stafford, a district nurse, or a family member who provides round-the-clock support, the awards welcome all nominations from the community.
For local residents in Stafford who know someone deserving of recognition, the deadline of 1 July 2026 means there is still time to make a nomination. These awards provide an opportunity to celebrate the unsung heroes who care for vulnerable people across the county every single day.
