A major £208,000 road resurfacing scheme in Burton town centre has been completed by Staffordshire County Council. The project covered Worthington Way and Station Road, with work finished on schedule despite the significant scope of improvements needed across the Stafford area.
Crews carried out overnight working to minimise disruption to residents, businesses and drivers in Burton and the wider Stafford region. This strategic approach meant road closures did not clash with other roadworks happening simultaneously in the area, keeping traffic flow as smooth as possible during the construction period.
Beyond resurfacing the roads, teams also replaced ironworks and cleared highway drains as part of the comprehensive improvements. Staffordshire County Council says this coordinated approach tackles multiple infrastructure issues in one project, reducing the need for repeat roadworks and future disruption in Stafford communities.
James Bailey, the council's Assistant Director for Highways, commented on the project's completion: "Our teams worked hard to complete the project as quickly and efficiently as possible." The improvements reflect the council's commitment to upgrading Burton's road network and wider infrastructure.
This resurfacing scheme is part of a broader push to improve roads and infrastructure across Burton and the Stafford area over the coming months. Residents can expect further upgrades as the council continues its programme of highway improvements.
