A £950,000 improvement scheme on Uttoxeter's A518 Town Meadow Way is entering its resurfacing phase with overnight road closures starting Monday 15 June. The project, which began in May with essential repairs to ironwork and damaged kerbs, now moves into its crucial next stage near Stafford. Nightly closures will run from 7pm to 6am until Friday 26 June, affecting the double roundabouts with signed diversions in place.

Staffordshire County Council is asking residents and businesses across the Stafford area to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys during the two-week resurfacing period. Drivers are advised to avoid parking in the work area during this time. The overnight schedule has been chosen to minimise disruption to daytime traffic on this busy route.

Patrick Allen, Cabinet Member for Highways North, stated that the overnight closures represent "the safest and most efficient way" to carry out the resurfacing work. He added that the improvements will "significantly improve the road for everyone who uses it." The scheme demonstrates the council's commitment to maintaining key routes in the Stafford region.

Once completed, the resurfaced A518 will provide a better road surface for the thousands of residents and commuters who use this vital link near Stafford. The improvements form part of wider investment in local infrastructure. Drivers should check for updates and expect delays during the scheduled closure periods.
