Stafford Diamonds have been crowned champions at the Harbury Hornets Walking Netball Tournament, held on Sunday 20 September. The team produced an unbeaten performance across six matches, recording five wins and one draw to finish top of the competition with 16 points.

Seven teams took part in the tournament. Stafford Diamonds finished ahead of runners-up Tudor Queens and third-placed Beechy Blinders.

The tournament raised £1,900 for Breast Cancer Now and Flourish. Breast Cancer Now provides research, support and information for people affected by breast cancer. Flourish provides one-to-one mentoring for girls aged 10–18 years old in South Warwickshire, helping young people develop their self-esteem and emotional and mental wellbeing.

It was a fantastic day, played in the true spirit of walking netball. Everyone demonstrated true team spirit that has become a hallmark of our club. We had fearless defence, safe and steady centre-court play, great feeds into the circle and consistent shooting; all of which helped us secure wins in some very close games and a draw. We're delighted to come away as tournament winners, but it was equally special to be part of a day that raised so much for two important charities.

Team Captain Suzie Godwin named Eunice Boote Player of the Tournament in recognition of her contribution to the team's success.

Stafford Walking Netball combines competitive walking netball with friendship, physical activity and community causes. The club has 45 members, ranging from their 30s through to their 80s.

Training sessions take place on Mondays from 6pm to 7pm and Thursdays from 1pm to 3pm at Beaconside Sport and Fitness Centre, Weston Road, Stafford, ST18 0BF.

We are incredibly proud of the Diamonds. Winning the tournament is a wonderful achievement, but what makes days like this particularly special is the sense of community around walking netball. Teams compete hard on court but come together to support one another and, on this occasion, to help raise an amazing £1,900 for Breast Cancer Now and Flourish. Congratulations to Harbury Hornets for organising such a successful day.
