A scheme to improve main roads in Stone town centre will begin on Monday 13 July and is scheduled to be completed by 23 October.
The work will cover Stafford Street, Crown Street, Newcastle Street, Station Road, Granville Square, Christchurch Way and Radford Street.
What the improvements include
Improvements will include repairs to kerbs, footways and drains, plus the installation of tactile crossing points. Resurfacing is due to take place in the autumn.
Traffic management
Temporary traffic signals will be in place and manned during working hours between 7am and 5pm on weekdays. When resurfacing takes place from 7 September to 16 October, some nighttime closures will be needed between 7pm and 6am. Locations and timings of the closures will be publicised closer to the time.
Patrick Allen, Staffordshire County Council's Cabinet Support Member for Highways, said the scheme is important for Stone, adding that some work has been scheduled over the schools summer holiday to minimise disruption. He acknowledged that delays are likely on these busy routes and apologised in advance.
