Staffordshire County Council is seeking more people to become Supported Lodgings hosts, offering young people aged 16 to 20 a supportive home as they leave care and move towards independent living.
Hosts receive a weekly allowance of £213.09, along with additional contributions paid by the young person. The role does not require hosts to give up employment, as the council provides recruitment, training and ongoing support.
What is Supported Lodgings?
Supported Lodgings differs from foster care. Hosts offer a spare bedroom and practical support to help young people learn essential skills such as cooking, budgeting and managing everyday responsibilities.

Staffordshire's Supported Lodgings service has received the highest possible rating from Ofsted. Inspectors rated the service "Consistently Strong", praising its leadership, management and safeguarding arrangements. They also highlighted the progress young people were making and the support provided to prepare them for independent living.
