Staffordshire County Council's Supported Lodgings service has received the highest rating possible from Ofsted. The service, which supports young adults aged 16 to 20 who are leaving care and moving towards independent living, was judged as "Consistently Strong" by inspectors.
How the service works
Supported Lodgings bridges the gap between care and independent living. The council recruits, trains and supports local people who offer a room in their home to a young person. Hosts provide a safe and supportive environment where young people can learn practical life skills and gain confidence for the future.
What inspectors found
Ofsted inspectors praised the service's leadership, management and safeguarding arrangements. They highlighted the positive progress being made by young people and the support they receive to prepare for independence.

Nick Lakin, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People at Staffordshire County Council, said the rating is a testament to the hard work and compassion of the Supported Lodgings team and the hosts who open their homes to young people leaving care.
"We are committed to giving every young person the best possible start in adult life," he said. "Our hosts play a key role in this, and we are always looking for new hosts to come forward."
