Staffordshire County Council is proposing to extend its Community Learning Framework to 2029. The extension will ensure residents across Staffordshire continue to access learning opportunities during the period of Local Government Reorganisation expected over the next two years.
The Community Learning Service supports adults seeking to develop skills, build confidence and improve wellbeing. The service offers pathways towards employment and further learning. Since September 2025, the service has recorded over 2,000 course sign-ups, with 99% of learners saying they would recommend it to family and friends.
How the service operates
Courses are delivered through community venues, online platforms and outreach activities across the county. Annually, around 3,000 Staffordshire residents benefit from the service, gaining skills in digital literacy, everyday life competencies and family support.
Why the extension matters
Robin Hall, Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills at Staffordshire County Council, said the extension provides stability during Local Government Reorganisation. It prevents service disruption for learners and gives delivery partners confidence to plan ahead and maintain established partnerships.
"Community Learning changes lives," Hall said. "It helps people build resilience, improve their digital and everyday life skills, support their families and access better opportunities."
