Stafford residents and businesses are being invited to have their say on a major new Local Plan that will shape the borough for the next 20 years. Senior councillors have approved the plan, which addresses eight key issues including housing, jobs, climate change, flooding, traffic and wildlife protection. The consultation period runs from Monday 8 June 2026 until 28 July 2026.
Councillor Ant Reid, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Planning, emphasised the importance of the plan. "We must find the right balance that ensures we have strong economic growth while maintaining what our communities value most," he said. The new Local Plan must be completed within 30 months and has received £110,000 in government funding to support the work.
Stafford residents can access consultation documents online at www.staffordbc.gov.uk/new-local-plan-2025-to-2045, at local libraries, and at the Civic Centre in Riverside. Those with questions about the Stafford Local Plan consultation can email [email protected] for more information.
This consultation offers local people a chance to influence how Stafford develops over the next two decades. Whether you live or work in the borough, your feedback during the June and July consultation period could help shape housing provision, economic opportunities, environmental protection and transport links in your community.
