Foster carers across Staffordshire have been honoured at the third annual Fostering Star Awards, held at Lea Hall in Rugeley on Friday 22 May. The ceremony recognised dozens of foster families, special guardians and supported lodgings hosts for their dedication to caring for vulnerable children in the county.

Among the award winners was Uttoxeter couple Dawn and Robert Brinkley, who received the Rising Star Award just over a year into their fostering journey. "We were really surprised and humbled," they said. "It's not always been easy but there is lots of support around you when you need it." The couple encouraged others considering fostering to get in touch with Stafford's fostering services.

Other carers celebrated at the Stafford event included Julie Clarke, who won Inspirational Foster Carer, Craig Hill, named Inspirational Supported Lodgings Host, and Derek and Jane Dodd, recognised as Unsung Heroes. Nick Lakin, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, highlighted that the awards celebrate the "fantastic team" making a real difference to children's lives across Staffordshire.

Staffordshire Council is actively recruiting more foster families to support vulnerable children in the region. Anyone interested in becoming a foster carer can contact the council on 0800 169 2061 or visit the Foster with Staffordshire webpage for more information about the application process and support available.
