Staffordshire dads are being encouraged to use free support services at local Family Hubs ahead of Father's Day on Sunday 21 June. The county council's network of community hubs provides early years activities, well-baby clinics, school nurse sessions and SEND support, all in one location.
The Stafford Family Hubs are actively welcoming fathers and breaking down barriers to their involvement. Two dads are already working as family support coaches at the hubs, with more joining the team each week. Mark Watson, a Family Hub Coach and father of two, said: "It's great to be in a position to offer advice, support, a friendly ear and a cup of coffee to local parents and families."
Nicholas Lakin, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, emphasised the value these hubs offer to all fathers. "Every dad has something to give and gain from the wide range of activities and support," he said. "A trip to your local Family Hub is worth the time."
Staffordshire's council is working towards Dads Welcome accreditation with charity Fatherhood Solutions. This recognition highlights organisations that actively support fathers in their local communities.
