Work to create access to a new commercial development next to the M6 in Stafford is now in its final phase. The junction and road widening scheme, known as Stafford Gate, is located at Creswell on the A5013 Creswell Grove, next to junction 14.

Overnight Road Closures and Diversions

Overnight road surfacing will take place from Monday 19 October until Friday 23 October. Full closures of this section of the road will be in effect from 10pm until 6am on these nights, with signed diversions in place.

All traffic management on this section is scheduled to be removed by the weekend of 31 October.

Final Works and Completion

The last part of the scheme will be east of Junction 14, where a new pedestrian refuge will be installed. Resurfacing work on the roundabout will also take place. Temporary traffic signals will be in operation during this period.

Project Background

The road scheme is for commercial development by Strawsons Property and is fully funded by the company. Work began in May, with a one-way order in place towards Stafford to allow work to be carried out safely.

Patrick Allen, Cabinet Support Member for Highways at Staffordshire County Council, said the scheme supports a significant development which will create jobs in the local area and provide a range of leisure facilities. He acknowledged that traffic management has caused disruption but stated the work was carried out as quickly as possible in coordination with the developer.
