Families across Staffordshire Moorlands are accessing a new network of support services through the Family Hub, based in Biddulph. The hub brings midwifery appointments, school nurse clinics, and youth clubs directly into local communities, covering areas from Leek to Warslow and Cheadle to Biddulph.
Rather than operating from a single location, the Family Hub works through partners and volunteer groups delivering support where families actually live. This approach makes it easier for residents across Staffordshire to access help close to home. Services include SEND support, weekly Youth Hub sessions, and community groups like Little Doves Playgroup in Waterhouses and breastfeeding support in Leek.
Nick Lakin, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, described the hubs as vital to helping families thrive. New initiatives are already underway, including baby shower events with midwives and infant feeding specialists. Additional partnerships are being developed in Cheadle to expand the reach of services across the region.
Families with children who have additional needs receive regular support through dedicated sessions with Caudwell Children, held every other Wednesday. These services demonstrate how Staffordshire is working to provide accessible support across the Moorlands, ensuring families don't have to travel far to find the help they need.
