Stafford’s Remembrance Sunday service and parade will take place on Sunday 8 November, with residents invited to join the town’s commemorations.

The open-air service starts at 10.50am at the Borough War Memorial in Victoria Square. Wreaths will also be laid at the County War Memorial in Victoria Road before the parade.

The parade will pass through Market Square, where the Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire will take the salute. The borough mayor, Councillor Mark Winnington, civic representatives and local organisations will attend.

Personnel from 22 Signal Regiment and Tactical Supply Wing (RAF), both based in the town, are due to take part alongside the Royal British Legion and other local groups.

Armistice Day on 11 November

A separate Act of Remembrance will be held in Market Square from 10.50am on Wednesday 11 November. It will include prayers, a two-minute silence and a trumpeter playing the Last Post and Reveille.

The mayor has encouraged people of all ages to take part and pay tribute to those who have served and lost their lives in conflicts.

Stafford Borough Council’s events calendar will carry further information and timings. The release does not give a parade start time or road-closure details, so visitors should check the council’s updates before travelling.
