Residents of Manor Ward in Stafford are being urged to register to vote before the deadline for a council by-election next month. The vote for a Stafford Borough Council seat takes place on Thursday 16 July, with polling stations open from 7am to 10pm. The deadline to register is Tuesday 30 June.
The by-election has been called following the death of Councillor Angela Loughran. Eligible residents can register online at www.staffordbc.gov.uk/how-do-you-register-to-vote. Those who wish to vote by post must submit their application by 5pm on Wednesday 1 July.
Anyone planning to vote in person at a Stafford polling station must bring photographic ID. Acceptable forms include a UK passport, driving licence, or disabled blue badge. Residents without valid ID can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate at www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate, but applications must be submitted by 5pm on Wednesday 8 July.
