Foster carers across Staffordshire have been celebrated at the third annual Fostering Star Awards, held at Lea Hall in Rugeley on Friday 22 May. The ceremony recognised dozens of foster families, special guardians and supported lodgings hosts for their dedication to caring for vulnerable children in the county.

Among the award winners were Uttoxeter couple Dawn and Robert Brinkley, who received the Rising Star Award just over a year into their fostering journey. The pair said they were "really surprised and humbled" by the recognition. Other carers honoured at the Stafford-area ceremony included Julie Clarke (Inspirational Foster Carer), Craig Hill (Inspirational Supported Lodgings Host) and Derek and Jane Dodd (Unsung Hero).

Dawn and Robert Brinkley told the ceremony that fostering has not always been straightforward, but emphasised the support available to carers. They encouraged anyone considering fostering to get in touch with Staffordshire's recruitment team.

Nick Lakin, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, praised the foster families making a real difference to children's lives across Stafford and beyond. The council is actively recruiting more foster families to meet demand in the region.
