The Stafford 10K marked its 10th anniversary on Sunday 20 September with a record-breaking turnout. More than 2,200 runners finished the race — the highest number in the event's history.
Lee Gratton from Rugeley Runners claimed overall victory with a time of 30:33 minutes. Stephanie Giles from Alchester Running Club was the first female runner to cross the finish line.
Organised by Freedom Leisure in partnership with Stafford Borough Council, the event saw a significant increase from the 1,895 participants who took part in 2025. The traffic-free 10-kilometre course started alongside Victoria Park and wound through Stafford town centre before returning to the park for the finish line.
Community spirit and support
The race welcomed runners of all abilities, from those targeting personal bests to first-time participants.
Councillor Gillian Pardesi, Cabinet Member for Leisure at the Borough Council, said: "To have smashed the record for the number of athletes finishing the race is a fitting way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 10k — one of the best events in the local sporting calendar. Congratulations to all who took part and all who supported the runners along the route."
Ross Stephenson, Race Director at Freedom Leisure, added: "What an incredible way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Stafford 10K. To see a record 2,226 people cross the finish line is something we can all be extremely proud of. The event has grown enormously over the last decade, but what makes it so special is the fantastic community spirit surrounding it."

Entries are now open for the Stafford Half Marathon, taking place on Sunday 21 March 2027. Early bird pricing is currently available. Full results and individual finishing times from the 2026 Stafford 10K are available at sportmaniacs.com.
